The Barbecue Chicken Pizza is our favorite. What makes this pizza so special is that it has right amount of each ingredient. The pizza crust is thin, covered with a layer of barbecue sauce, cheese, grilled chicken chunks, and thinly slices red onions. The barbecue sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and does not overpower the other ingredients. With a little bit of garlic salt and red pepper flakes sprinkled on top, this pizza is most definitely worth the drive down the bumpy Chelsea streets.
Pupusas are a dish from El Salvador, made from a thick, hand-made corn tortilla. Khelseas makes each pupusa to order and sells them for about $1.50 each. We love them stuffed with pork and cheese topped with Khelseas homemade pickled vegetables and house sauce. Khelseas pupusas are packed full of pork and cheese and cooked on a flat top grill until slightly crispy on the outside, making them the perfect snack or appetizer.
For those foodies willing to step outside their comfort zone and venture outside the Boston City limits, Chelsea is the perfect place to go. It is packed with small, family owned restaurants, just like Khelseas, serving traditional Latin American dishes made from the freshest ingredients at more than reasonable prices. Go down to the Haymarket "T" station and catch the 111 bus (it's about a 15 minute bus ride). Don't judge a book by its cover and give the food scene in Chelsea a try....it just might surprise you.
Khelseas Pizzeria is located at 158 Washington Ave. Chelsea, MA 02150. If you take the 111 bus get off at the Washington St @ Carry Ave. stop and its right across the street. If not call ahead, (617)-884-7933, and pickup your order.
