Max Brenner

     This past Tuesday we were walking down Boylston Street and decided to partake in some Max Brenner. We had been there before with family. Dinner with "chocolate by the bald man," as Max Brenner's slogan goes, is always delicious. If you have not heard of this place, the owner is known for his delectable chocolate creations. Upon arriving we were seated right away but then again it was a Tuesday night; come on a weekend day and expect to wait.  
At Max Brenner's each dish has its own delicious chocolately spin! 

Too start out the meal we ordered the Black and Tan Beer Battered Vidalia Rings with Dark Chocolate Ranch Dressing. The onion rings were thickly cut, hot, and crispy. However, although they were enjoyable, they were not memorable. The dark chocolate ranch dipping sauce had a faint, almost indistinguishable, hint of chocolate. It was a decent plate of onion rings but, in all honesty, we were expecting more from "the bald man."

For our second course we ordered the Mushroom and Ricotta Pizza with black olives and sundried tomato pesto. The very thin crust on this pizza was nice and crispy. Max Brenner's uses the sundried tomato pesto as the pizza sauce, which gave the pizza a nice tang. Although the flavors in the pizza made us want to go back for more, James' thought it was slightly under-seasoned. Also, it would have been nice if the ricotta was spread out throughout the pizza. Instead, the "blobs" of ricotta topping the pizza looked more like an afterthought than a well thought out component. As a whole however, the Mushroom and Ricotta Pizza was a delicious part of our meal!

In our opinion, dinning at Max Brenner and not ordering dessert should be considered a crime. So, we had no choice but to order the Crystal Sugar Churros Fondue with muddled raspberries, warm toffee sauce, and our choice of milk, white, or dark chocolate fondue; we went with the milk chocolate. The churros were perfect! Crispy on the 
outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside, just they way they should be. The milk chocolate fondue was creamy, rich, and delicious! The Crystal Sugar Churros Fondue was the perfect end to a delicious meal! 

Overall our experience at Max Brenner's was an enjoyable one. There is a chocolate store by the front desk and every aspect of the decor reminds you of a chocolate bar. For being a Tuesday the service was rather slow, however the taste of the food made up for that. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal or just a good dose of chocolately goodness!
