Anthem Kitchen + Bar

Last weekend, after the inauguration of the new light show Blink! at Faneuil Hall, we decided to have dinner at Anthem Kitchen + Bar. We first discovered Anthem a few months ago during a visit from James' dad; our only complaint then was the service, which was sloppy. We are happy to say that this time around the service, just like the food, was excellent!

First things first, we have to talk about Anthem's out of this world New England Clam Chowder! We've had many cups of clam chowders and we can say with confidence that this is the best clam chowder we have had. It is rich and velvety, full of chunks of potatoes and clams. There is just the right amount of clams to chowder. Anyone eating at Anthem MUST have a cup of their clam chowder!

As an appetizer we ordered the Fried Calamari with Hot Pepper Rings. The calamari, although it was seasoned perfectly, could have been a bit crispier for out taste. The accompanying chipotle aioli added a nice heat to the dish. Overall this was a tasty plate of fried calamari.

As our first entree we had the White Wood Grilled Flatbread Pizza. This pizza was topped with chicken confit, bechamel sauce, spinach, pan roasted mushrooms, fontina, and mozzarella cheese. We are picky with our pizza, the ingredients must be evenly distributed throughout. Anthem delivered a well made, delicious flatbread! There are plenty of toppings on this pizza yet all the flavors married well together. Anthem did not let us down, this was a delicious flatbread!

Last but not least, we had Anthem's Banh Mi Chay, which is a fried tofu, japanese eggplant, picked daikon, carrots, cilantro, and spicy mayo sandwich. In all honesty, we did not get the taste of the cilantro or the spicy mayo. Also, the mountain of undressed salad in the middle of the plate seemed like an afterthought. However, the flavors of the sandwich were delicious! It was not a traditional Banh Mi but it was definitely a great tasting sandwich!

It was our second year anniversary and James decided to surprise Aida with roses. The beautiful bouquet was waiting at the table when we arrived. Anthem pulled out the surprise without a hitch! Thank you!

If you are looking for a great cup of clam chowder we suggested giving Anthem a try! Located right next to historic Faneuil Hall, Anthem Kitchen + Bar is sure to deliver delicious tasting food, a great ambiance, and friendly service; our server, Collin, was extremely gracious and knowledgeable. We recommend this restaurant to couples looking for a fun dinning spot or friends looking to have a great time. Anthem is quickly becoming one of our favorite restaurants in Boston!
We will be back!
